Run Coaching

We’re a team! We have created the most unique virtual training experience on the market. Even though you are an individual and your training is geared toward your individual needs.

You are part of a global team of athletes that provide motivation, inspiration and camaraderie. Due to our team’s vast global racing experience, someone has done the race you are about to do. So first hand course knowledge is at your disposal. And no matter where you race, a Prs Fit Team Mate or coach may be there to support you.

During this conversation you will get to know your coach better. You will discuss your goals, your training and racing history, your medical history and get the answer to any initial training questions you have.
At Prs Fit every team mate is a premium team mate. You will receive an unlimited premium on-line training platform through Daily Fit Book, and personal instructions from your coach on how to optimize it.
During your first week we will dial in your personal training parameters by testing your heart rate zones. This assures you of training in the correct target zones. We will look at photos of your your body alignment to make any necessary tweaks to imbalances and we will do a complete running form video analysis. This video is yours to keep for comparisons later in your training.
At Prs Fit we believe coaching is an educational experience. We want you to understand the why and how of your training. That’s why our coaches encourage you to contact them as often as you like.

Running Form Analysis

Did you know, it’s estimated that half of running injuries are actually re-injuries, and a single stride flaw can cause more than one type of injury. Studies show between 50 and 80 percent of runners are injured every year. Many of those overuse injuries result from a runner applying too much force on a repetitive basis. The way to reduce the chance for injuries is to run with the least possible musculoskeletal stress on your system possible with the least metabolic cost.

At PRS FIT we evaluate all of our team mates regularly to assure their form is sound in order to help reduce their chance of injury. Using frame-by-frame video analysis of their stride, we looked for the biomechanical abnormalities that were likely to cause pain.

Now our team of highly trained and experience coaches are offering this service to everyone. We can help you address and eradicate some of the most common running injuries that can include, but are not limited to.

Form Flaw: Thigh internally rotates during ground contact (knock knees)
Associated Injuries: Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome
Possible Fixes: Actively engaging the muscles of the buttock and the outside of the hip while your foot is in contact with the ground.

Form Flaw: Medial rotation of the foot at impact.
Associated Injuries: Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendinosis.
Possible Fixes: Concentrate on pushing off with your big toe and on keeping your knees pointing straight ahead during ground contact, strengthening of your hips.

Form Flaw:  Opposing hip drops when one foot is on ground.
Associated Injuries: Patellafemoral Pain Syndrome, Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome.
Possible Fixes: Increase step width — practice running along a straight line, making sure your feet land evenly on either side of it, hip strength and flexibility workouts.

Form Flaw:  Overstriding (severe heel strike).
Associated Injuries: Shin splints, stress fractures, ITBS, PTT.
Possible Fixes: Increase stride frequency — increase steps per minute without increasing your pace. Lean forward very slightly at the trunk, increase the flex in the knee at impact.

Whether you are a seasoned runner who has seen minimal improvement in race times despite increases in training or you’re a runner who is consistently nagged by injuries, video run gait analysis can help you.

Unlike the free run gait analysis done at running stores to help select the correct shoe for your stride (which is also very important), our video run gait analysis actually identifies areas where a runner’s biomechanics can be improved. Video allows us to isolate single elements of your stride and recommend drills to improve your form.  These improvements typically result in a more efficient stride over time. This allows the runner to run further and faster with less likelihood of injury.

Additionally video provides runners with visual feedback specific to their individual running technique. The runner can improve their form more quickly since they know what their improved running stride should look and feel like.

Not in our immediate area?  Although we’d love to meet you in person, we can send you a protocol on what we need to see and you can send us a video from where ever you are.

Sample of a remote video analysis:

The video analysis is a great tool to help improve your form, when used by an experienced coach.  You simply upload a video of your running to the website and the coach takes it from there, analyzing every detail of your from and providing recommendations.  The benefits you experience make this a no-brainer!

Client Testimonials

I’ve been consistently running for five years. It started with a 5K and snowballed to multiple marathons. I pride myself on being current on all the latest information regarding running, from the latest tech to the best race fuel, but I kept finding myself sidelined after each running season with an injury. First it was an ankle sprain, then knee sprain, most recently ITBS (Iliotibial band syndrome). I couldn’t understand why these injuries were happening. Recently someone suggested I have a professional running form analysis done. I spoke with Coach Jeff with PRSFIT and sent in a few pictures and a video. The next day I was blown away when Coach Jeff sent me my analysis. I received a link to my individual video with a play by play description of what was causing my issues. It was very easy to follow and understand. It turns out that I am a severe heel striker. All these years I thought I was striking mid foot. In addition to this, Coach Jeff also sent multiple videos explaining exactly what to do to fix my form. The feedback included a one on one phone conversation to address any questions I had. The level of professionalism, knowledge, and customer service was impressive. I am now working on practicing my drills and look forward to my follow up to track my progress. A big thanks to Coach Jeff and PRSFIT!

Four years ago I was a heavy heel-striker. After having my running form analyzed and changed incrementally over time, I am now a mid-foot striker and much more efficient. Coach Jeff and I are still tweaking my form and the video analysis is a great tool to use to do this. Outcomes speak volumes. I’ve improved my marathon time from a 4:32to a 3:56, with hopes of a Boston Qualification in the not too distant future.
